Fees

Fees

Services with additional charges

Our practice tries to avoid services at an additional cost for children and families covered by German statutory health insurance. It is our concern to provide all necessary health services completely as statutory health insurance benefits. We also try, wherever possible, to prescribe medications as full health insurance benefits.

Uninsured children

We will be happy to discuss the options available by telephone.

Fee for school certificates & sports examinations

The health system will remain stable if we keep costs in check. This also applies to medical revenues. We have to charge a fee for school certificates or sports examinations.

Additional Services

Additional Services

Special services by state health insurers

Several statutory health insurers offer special contractual offers for their insured. The so-called AOK-contract (by the AOK insurance) is particularly well known. This contract, for examples, requires patients to waive their right to choose their own doctor. Our practice does not participate in such contracts.

Special therapeutic methods

We do not prescribe any medications of the so-called special therapeutic directions (e.g. homeopathy, naturopathy), no ineffective medications (e.g. cough syrups or diarrhea remedies) and no services without proof of efficacy (e.g. osteopathy, magnetic resonance). However, we are happy to name medical colleagues who offer these services.

Independence of opinion and decision-taking

We limit ourselves to the diagnostic and therapeutic services that have been scientifically tested and necessary. As parents, you naturally may disagree and choose to obtain such services elsewhere or in addition. Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, viewing differing opinions with natural respect has proven to be an important value. You may express your personal opinion and stick to it, and it will not affect our commitment to diagnose and treat your child. We are convinced that the decision whether or not to have your child be receive a certain vaccination is absolutely up to you as parents.

Who will treat me? Can I change between doctors?

Our practice employs paediatricians as salaried doctors. It also trains medical specialists in general medicine, paediatrics or child and adolescent psychiatry. This means that you will meet different people and different points of view. As a parent or child, you may choose the doctor who treats you - except in emergencies. Sometimes you require your familiar doctor, sometimes a change is helpful (primary contact person: Dr. W. Diener).

Our medical assistants

Our experienced team of medical assistants organises the daily routine of the practice and conducts or supports diagnosis (e.g. EEG, ECG, or allergy testing), telephone counselling, and treatment (e.g. wound management, vaccinations), and advice (e.g. nutrition or nursing procedures). The daily work routine varies and is charactised by a split into two shifts.

If you would like to join our team, please send us your application by post or e-mail.

Practice management

In order to run a modern practice effectively, a strong team behind the team and partners are required. This includes a cleaning team, typists, IT professionals, experts for medical equipment and its maintenance, hygiene, security, legal and insurance advice. We would like to thank all our partners for their valuable support.

Practice culture

Practice culture

40 years of paediatric medicine in Offenburg

The paediatric practice was founded on 1.1.1980 by Dr Disselhoff and taken over by Dr Diener in 2008. From the beginning, the practice had a neurological focus. We moved our practise to the new location at Ebertplatz in 2011.

We treat everyone

We care for an above-average number of children and young people with chronic diseases and disabilities. The practice owner was a founding member of the Association of Doctors for People with Disabilities.

Diversity

The practice serves children and families from over 100 countries. All major religions are represented, and certainly also the most diverse political attitudes among parents and young people.

Treatment costs

Self-pay services are avoided wherever possible. Medication and therapies must be necessary and effective (no special therapy directions). It is the need and not our budget that decides.

Error culture

We make mistakes - and speak about them. As few as possible should happen, but we are complex individuals and medical outcomes are not always predictable.

Children's rights

Safeguarding children's rights occasionally requires a difficult weighing-up of "bodily harm" and painful procedures. The children's wishes shall significantly influence our decisions.

Change of doctor

A change of doctor and a change of practice are possible at any time. Parents and children receive a summarising letter when changing practice.

Care after the age of 18

Further care after the age of 18 can be discussed for patients with multiple severe disabilities.

Advertising

We do not run advertisements for medical services or accept monetary benefits or other advantages from third parties.

Protection of medical data

Needless to say, data protection is critical. Patients leaving the practice, whether because they have reached the age limit, moved, or are dissatisfied, receive a transition letter for the following doctor.

You have the right to determine which medical facts are forwarded. The doctor is obliged to provide certain information, such as to life or private health insurers, depending on the statutes. Obtaining a driving licence and some professions also require complete and medically-truthful certificates. Ten years after the end of a medical treatment, all related patient data is destroyed.

Cooperations

Cooperations

We collaborate

The practice is well linked with other practices, clinics and experts throughout the district, so that for specific diagnoses the expertise of others can be consulted or their services can be referred to.

Education & Training

Education & Training

Advanced training for doctors

The owner of the practice, Dr. Diener, has worked in hospital and management positions for 25 years and is licensed to provide advanced training paediatrics (1 year) and neuropaediatrics (1 year), while Dr Stottmeier is licensed for paediatrics (1 year) and general medicine (1 year).

We offer:

  • two full-time training positions

  • remuneration according to the respective, collective salary agreement, and 13th month salary

Training for medical assistances

Our practice trains medical assistants (German abbreviation: “MFAs”). We also take on applicants with a certificate from a lower secondary school (German: “Hauptschulabschluss”) or with German as their second or foreign language. The decisive factors are commitment and sincerity. So far, all our trainees have successfully graduated and found immediate employment in our or another practice. The occasionally high workload is compensated by a good team spirit.

We offer:

  • three training positions

  • Remuneration according to the respective, collective salary agreement, and 13th month salary

Internships & Job Shadowing

Internships & Job Shadowing

For doctors and medical assistances

We organize job shadowing on to how to read EEG results and you may also accompany our doctors for the purpose of further training. Simply contact us to arrange an appointment.

For pupils

We support internships of high-school pupils (in Germany typically one week). You need to present your vaccination documentation and sign a confidentiality agreement. The pupils may accompany the doctors and assistants. Quite a few of our interns have later ended up choosing a career in the medical sector.
